Plastic

Media serves the purpose of interacting with each individual part to do the required finishing and separating parts from each other and it is made from a variety of materials such as ceramic, plastic, carbon or stainless steel, wood, leather, corncob, etc.

The choice depends on the desired result.

Plastic Media types are classified by their abrasiveness level and associated by color.

The advantage of plastic media is that larger sizes can be used without damaging most parts, thereby reducing the incidence of lodging. In some cases, the finish imparted by plastic media is preferable to that of other media products. Plastic generally cuts slower and gives a softer finish.

Tips

We use plastic media when we:

  • Wish for a preplate finish
  • Will be working with soft metals such as aluminum
  • Require a softer finish.
